Be a Bat! - A Headstand (& Forearm Stand) Workshop with Amber Scriven Next held on Sun, Mar 6, 2016 at 11:45 am - 1:15 pm

Come learn to hang with the bats- upside down….!
Get insight into the principles of inverting in a safe and supportive environment. We will go through helpful ways to strengthen, balance and stack into various headstands and forearm stands using props and detailed alignment cues that you cannot get from regular class time. We will cover various entries, leg variations and backbends as we climb through the process of finding your specific helpful hint.

Breaking down each posture so as to pinpoint where our personal struggles lie, helps us identify which areas to focus on in our regular practice times, so that we can achieve our upside goals more effectively.

Amber struggled with inversions for years, seeking out helpful hints, workshops and one-on-one classes with many teachers. Finally, breaking down the postures into tiny pieces, and combining everything she learnt, helped her to lift into a strong inversion practice. She has collected all their tidbits, and added her own insights to give them to you in this one workshop.

Together we will grow our confidence, core strength and agility so that we can hang out with the bats this summer in playful upside down variations!

(Headstands are not recommended during pregnancy, or if you have a neck injury or scoliosis to any degree. Your health is more important then your shape: Keep it safe!)

Synergy Partner Yoga incorporates yoga, partner stretching, creative movement, flying and Thai massage. It inspires trust and communication. Synergy is more than simply working together. It brings the body into union through healing, deepens emotions of trust, evokes playfulness and builds a supportive community.

-Partner stretching includes: deep backbends, shoulder openers, supporting each other’s body weight and strength and trust building.

-In flying you learn the balanced movements of how to balance your partner on your feet safely and confidently.

-Thai massage includes some simple moves, in which you learn to help your partner achieve deep stretches from yoga postures but in a truly relaxed state. It is intended to develop skills within each person so they can confidently try all the stretches at home. We will teach many versions of stretches & exercises to allow people to move at their own pace.

4-Hour Bikram Posture Clinic with Ida Ripley with Ida Ripley Next held on Sat, Mar 19, 2016 at 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The all day seminar will include a 4-hour posture clinic at room temperature in which Ida covers all the postures of the Bikram’s Beginner’s series. She utilizes her own body, and the bodies of the participants, to illustrate how to correctly execute the postures. She uses the language you hear in class to demonstrate how corrections are executed, giving you the tools for improving your own postures, no matter where you’re starting from! Following the posture clinic, Ms. Ripley leads a full 90 minute 26x2 class at regular heat. The post clinic class is a great way to solidify the things you’ve just learned! Note taking materials are allowed in the posture clinic. Pen/Pencil & Paper only please.
